Holi Zeal Grips Siliguri and Whole Country

Whole Country including Siliguri residents are all set to celebrate and have fun playing Holi with their friends and family. Most of markets of Siliguri like Kela Hatti, Mahabirsthan, Hongkong Market, Bishan Market have witnessed the heavy rush of people making last minute shopping ahead of Holi, to be celebrated in city on Sunday and Monday. The shopkeepers have decorated their shops with colors and pitchkari to attract children and other costumers. “There is lot of variety in our shop and all are natural and chemicals free colors. We have pitchkari ranging from Rs 20 to 150. Similarly, colors are available in form of gulal as well in sprays” says Sujoy Majumdar , a shopkeeper from Mahabirsthan, Siliguri.

Tarun Sarkar from Bidhan Market, Siliguri said,” the children use to buy colors available in sprays and most of the kids like Pitchkari in the shape of guns. To mark the festivities children can be seen in every nook and corner of the entire city throwing water filled balloons on travelers and saying “Bura Na Mano Holi Hai”, a basic trick to escape from the anger of people epically who hate during Holi occasions.

Today is the day of Holika Dahan, and the rituals have already started at the major areas of Siliguri. The Holika Dahan time has been set to 8:30 to 9:30 pm in all the areas.  Here are some major clubs and organization’s list for Holika Dahan along with the time and address:

Holi of Rajasthan has its own charm and which you can see and feel at Siliguri. Today everyone is playing Holi with Gulal and Abir, the dry Holi and tomorrow is the real playing day for Holi which we call as fag. This year there has been a lot of importance on celebrating a waterless Holi.     Wow these list of function were helpful. I live in Siliguri and I've heard about holika dahan but I didn't knew about the venue and time table of celebration.
