Rathkhola Sporting Club situated in Subhaspally was established in the year 1964 is a pioneer in maintaining the cultural heritage of Bengal. It works towards the betterment of the society and organizes several camps to serve the people of Siliguri, says, the Club President Subhaas Bhowal.
The Club runs an art school for the children who are passionate about art. Art apart from being a talent, is also a mental exercise. It calms the mind and channelizes it into positive direction. It extends the imaginative boundary of the pupils and help them create a harmonious drawing on the cavas. The artists are blessed with the art to miz and match the imaginative as well as the practical world and to boost up their this energy, the club aptly runs an Art School.
The club is also a welfare organization where many checkup camps are held including Physiotherapy, ECG Checkup and the like. Physical therapy or physiotherapy is a health care profession primarily concerned with the remediation of impairments and disabilities and the promotion of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and movement potential through examination, evaluation, diagnosis and physical intervention carried out by physical therapists also known as physiotherapists.
Apart from maintaining medical checkup camps for Physiotherapy and ECG, the club also runs Homeopathy and Allopathy treatment and checkup camp. Homeopathy is a system of medicine which involves treating the individual with highly diluted substances, given mainly in tablet form, with the aim of triggering the body’s natural system of healing. Based on their specific symptoms, a homeopath will match the most appropriate medicine to each patient. Allopathy is the method of medical treatment in which drugs are administered to antagonize the disease.
Along with medical checkups and treatments, the club also indulges itself in social activities such as blood donation camps and cloth distribution. These two are the social service of the first order. Accidents, operations, lack of blood in body etc require lots of blood to be transfused into the body of the patient but due to lack of blood especially the rare blood groups in hospitals and blood banks result in the death of the patient inspite of the fact that their are millions of people carrying the same blood group which instead of going to them die themselves after a regular period of time. The club by organizing blood donation camps does a very noble work for those who die of blood.
Food and cloth distribution to the poor and the needy is gain the highest noble work that a person can do. There are huge number of people who are below poverty line and cannot even afford two square meals in a day leave alone adequate clothes. They are the section of the society who badly need food and clothes especially in winters when poor people die due to cold.
Apart from engaging in social activities, the club indulges in sports completions too, proudly said the Club Secretariat, Alok Ghosh. Outdoor games such as Football and Cricket competition is held every year. It gives a chance to the younger section of the society to display their talents in front of the crowd. Along with this, Indoor games such as Carom competition is also held. Carom is the most popular indoor game and putting this game as competition makes the club deserve hats off.
